The start to the day was one of those overcast days where it spits and rains lightly… just enough so that doing outside stuff is kind of miserable, because the mosquitoes, horseflies and other stinging critters seem to love to pester humans trying to go about their business.

Not that I would have run outside today anyway. Yesterday’s good run was such that I didn’t want to push the knee back to being grumpy, but at the same time I wanted to get a run in. Which meant heading to Champions and see if the treadmill would beat me up or if I would have fun getting to 3.0 miles.

I won’t say that I had fun, but I had another good run!

Two days in a row, though the first couple of minutes I was wondering why I run. The old body just couldn’t seem to find the rhythm and I seriously thought about bagging the run after 3:00 minutes, even though I started out easy. I told myself just get a mile in and see how you feel then. By the time I got to 5:00 minutes I was starting to feel good enough to think about doing an easy progression run.

As I got closer to 10:00 minutes, things began to smooth out and when I got there, I pushed the speed slightly. I did that three more times and when I got to 25:00 minutes I started increasing the speed by .1 every minute.

Yeah, nothing hurt, I was sweating like I was sitting in the sauna and the body felt good. When I got to 31:00 minutes, 3.0 miles was close enough that I pushed it up a little faster and finished strong. 31:18 for 3.0. Nothing spectacular, but it is progress, because I am starting quite slow and picking the pace up throughout the run, without any pain or grumpiness from the old bod.

A good run, now to think about what I want to do tomorrow. Should I go for three in a row and then take Sunday as just a walk day? Or should I just do a longer walk in the morning and relax a little? I am torn, but am leaning towards running tomorrow on the treadmill and doing a bit of weights, which I know I should be doing more often than I do.
