Breaking the Cycle

This one of twelve posts that I am bringing forward from an old blog that will go away at some point this year. I have updated it to reflect where I am now.

How often do we know that something needs to be done and have even attempted to make the necessary changes in the past, then failed?

Especially, when what you are currently doing is comfortable and making changes will take you out of that comfort zone.

That is where I was with my blogging.

Writing about my running had gotten boring and back in December 2021, I finally wrapped my head around the fact I wasn’t a Runblogger anymore.

That is what I have been doing since I created “Harold being Harold at the start of the year.

Changing what needed to be changed.

The behind-the-scenes stuff took longer than I believed it would – almost five months to get to where I am now.

They always do.

Going forward, the focus of my blogging will be on:

I don’t have a clue.

Well, I have some things I am interested in, but for now, I am not going to pigeon-hole my writing to anything specific. I am going to write about whatever interests me for a while and let myself slowly drift toward a niche that I am comfortable with and enjoy writing about.

Since this blog isn’t about making money, worrying about stats/analytics, Adsense or any of those other metrics that too many seem to worry themselves sick over. I have the time to explore new ideas, apps, processes, art, photography, and write about things that aren’t always measurable, but make me happy.

The biggest thing that I want to focus on is writing.

Moving on

I have a few goals for where I want to go in the future with my writing and view using my blog as a way to start achieving those goals.

However, none of my goals include becoming the next great problogger. No, my goals are a lot simpler and much more realistic for my vision of what will make “Harold being Harold” successful in my eyes.

The thing is, now that I have finally accepted that I am retired and no longer focused on being a Runblogger. I get to do some things in life that I want to do. Not just the things that people expect me to do.

This is one of them.

Come with me now, the best is yet to be.
