Yeah, I Wimped Out πŸ˜› – January 11, 2022

This morning when I hopped out of bed (yeah, in my dreams), more like I grunted and groaned as I crawled out of bed and wandered towards the first stop of the day, I noticed that the wonderful thermometer told me it was -8*F. Since I had noticed that our Winter flag about halfway down the driveway was flapping away, I figured that it felt a lot colder.

Kind of blurry is how I felt this morning.

I don’t know about you, but at that point, I just say it’s damn cold.

Yeah, we bundled up, headed out the door and it didn’t take the pup long to do his business and when we turned back into that wind, it was brutal. We both hustled to get back inside. It was pretty much the same routine for Bennie’s second walk and it had warmed up -4*F with the wonderful breeze still whipping through the trees.

What Bennie was doing after our walks, he didn’t move for almost an hour

This did give me a chance to play around with Evernote and I decided after all this time that I finally would relent and go back to using it. It is where I started using electronic notebooks way back when, and while there are a lot of improvements and changes, Evernote felt like I was coming home. It is a much more mature program, which is what I am looking for to be my central hub for writing, blogging, and acting as my second brain so I can find the things that I want to keep track of, better yet find again.

I will be working over the next few weeks consolidating all the miscellaneous notes and stuff from the other Notes programs I have back into Evernote. One ring to rule them all, err one Note taking app to do it all. πŸ˜„

About 10:30 this morning, I decided that I needed to either get outside and get it over with or get on the elliptical. I putzed around a little longer attempting to delay the choice, neither one sounded all that good.

I looked out the window one last time and watched the trees sway in the breeze and the thermometer read -2*F. I headed for the bedroom to change. Short and t-shirt and headed for 30:00 minutes on the elliptical.Β

I just couldn’t get myself to head out the door to go for a run.Β

No, the elliptical wasn’t all the fun, but I watched a few YouTube videos on the new features of Evernote and kept shuffling along for 6.0 long miles on the beast. I know that it isn’t that bad, but I really didn’t have my heart or head into working out today.

Could I have run outside, yeah…I just wimped out. I have all the cold weather gear to run out there and even made my Salomon Speedcross 5s into screw shoes last night.

They worked pretty well on the ice and snow stuff this morning on Bennie’s walks. So, I imagine they will be fine for the times that I need to get a run-in, during really nasty conditions.

Tomorrow afternoon this is supposed to break and be up in the high 20s or low 30s – a regular heat wave, Dontcha know.

Nope, I gotta get my head in the game and just run outside, if I want to outside in January, in Maine. Now, to go do it.

Come with me now, the best is yet to be.
