How am I feeling today?
Happy Birthday to D1, and I hope you have a great day.
The legs are feeling a bit tired, but not as badly as I thought they might, so that is a good thing. There is a lot of rain going on right now, not a heavy downpour, but a good steady rain, which we need. So, if I know me, I will procrastinate getting out the door this morning, and then once I do, I will enjoy the run.
Planned Workout Description:
Type:
- Recovery Run
Per Stryd: “Easy runs are an important part of balancing training intensity and recovery. Your target for this run is 65-75% of your Stryd Auto-Calculated Critical Power. You are encouraged to start out at the lower end of your prescribed range and progress to near the top of your prescribed range by the end of the run. While going above your prescribed range might feel easy in the moment, it is important to remember the purpose of an easy run is to promote recovery without adding additional fatigue.”

Why am I doing this run?
It is on the Stryd training plan, plus I need to clear the gunk out of the legs from yesterday’s track workout.
What I Actually Did Today:
Laps on Philbrick Road, I didn’t want to wander too far from the house in the rain. Once I got out the door, running in the rain wasn’t that bad and definitely a lot better than running in hot/sticky stuff. Today was a planned recovery run where I worked on T-Rex arms and not worrying about going faster. Although I did accidentally manage to do a progression through the nines on my mile splits.
Did the workout go as planned?
I ran faster than the Stryd plan had for the workout, but I ran easy and felt fine the entire way. Sometimes it is less fun to run super slow and to be honest, I would rather not be in the Power range that Stryd claims I should be doing. Otherwise, I felt good running easy.
What did I learn today?
Splashing in puddles is still fun, and wearing glasses when it is raining is a waste of time, which I already knew, but seem to have to learn it every time it rains.
Injuries/Niggles: The left Achilles was about a 1 this morning. It was just enough to let me know that it is still something to think about, but otherwise was doing better than it has been.
Weather: Moderate rain, 64°F, Feels like 65°F, Humidity 96%, Wind 5mph from NNE. I got to wring out my shirt before coming into the house, pretty much a drowned rat this morning.
Shoes: ASICS EvoRide 2. I take them for granted, but I had zero issues in the very wet conditions on the tar, and they felt very comfortable while running. It isn’t so much that I don’t like them. It is simply that I like other shoes in my rotation just a little more.
