Today’s Focus

Rest

Planned Workout Description:

Workout: None

Purpose: Today is a rest day and what I call “stop” the streaking day. I need to have one day a week to not run or do a lot beyond Alfredson’s Achilles routine. Then later today, some light stretching (maybe a Yoga video) and my pill bottle mobilization stuff.

The other part is that I am working hard at not putting together a lengthy run streak. Those tend to get me in trouble as far as my rest/recovery goes if I go more than a couple of weeks on one. Some runners find them fun to do. I usually end up injured or so tired that I need even more downtime to recover from doing a run streak. It is easy to get caught up in run streaking if I do not pay attention, and that is why I have the run streak section – to remind me of how many days in a row that I have run.

What I Actually Did Today:

No running–as planned.

We drove up to Waterville and Newport to pay respects to those who have passed.

Although I did rototill for about 45:00 minutes in the garden. Otherwise, it was a nice couch day where I didn’t even get in 10,000 steps, so I know that I lazed around like I planned.

Now to get ready to start the Stryd Intro 2-week plan tomorrow and maybe even attempt to run in the 1080 v10s again.

I walked in them this morning and remembered how much I do like the feel underfoot. Although the 1080s were a bit too snug, so I made some extra room by cutting out the elastic vamps that hold the tongue in place. It seems that a men’s size 8.0 is just a bit too small and crowded the Tailor’s Bunionette a little too much. I have a feeling that a size 9.0 in the 1080v10 would work a LOT better.

Even though I said I was sticking to ASICS and On brands, I do like the feel of the 1080v10s and since I have them here and need another pair of daily trainers to rotate with the EvoRide 2s it makes sense (as long as they don’t bother my feet too much since they are a bit snug), since the Nimbus Lite 2 have become my favorite walking shoes.

  1. It’s a good idea to take a rest from running once every few days. This will help to ease the pressure on your injury as a result of running on the other days. Hopefully, you will be able to return to your normal running speed soon. I also like to have more than one pair of sports shoes, either to be worn for different purposes, or to be rotated for my walks/runs
