Treadmill Progression Run – RunLog 10/23/19

It rained cats and dogs yesterday morning and then the sun shined in the afternoon. However, it was just too wet to get a lot done outside, so other than my treadmill run, a lot of resting was accomplished.

Planned Workout Description: Missed speed session on Tuesday, but didn’t really feel like doing a hard speed session, figured to get 5-6 miles and call it good.

  • Day: Wednesday
  • Time of Day: 10:14a
  • Course: PF Treadmill 10K
  • Distance: 6.2
  • Time of Run: 50:56
  • Pace: 8:13
  • Type of Workout: Progression
  • Rating: 3
  • Running Streak Day #: 5
  • Weather: Indoors

Variables that impacted the run: Wore Clayton 2s for first time on treadmill, right foot still sore from Duo’s, mentally tired

Comments: I wasn’t real sure about what kind of workout I would be doing, but by the end of the first mile had decided to do a progression run to 10K. Sometimes I just wait and see how the body feels and then go with the flow.

  • 1.0 – 6.7 mph – basically my warm-up
  • 2.0 – 7.0 mph
  • 3.0 – 7.2 mph
  • 3.5 – 7.3 mph
  • 4.0 – 7.5mph
  • 4.5 – 7.6 mph
  • 5.25 – 7.7 mph
  • 5.50 – 7.8 mph
  • 5.75 – 7.9 mph
  • 6.0 – 8.0 mph
  • 6.1 – 8.1 mph
  • 6.2 – 8.2 mph

I felt really good until the last .2 when I let my mind wander a bit and didn’t focus enough to finish as strong as I wanted.

Shoes Worn: Hoka Clayton 2 (13.2) – Well I loved how they felt on my feet, although my right foot was still bothering me from the weekend and Monday’s fun filled runs. However, I did get to experience a small dose of the infamous Clayton bite on my left instep. Nothing serious, but there was a small blister that formed right where other runners had complained about the shoes.

It just meant finding a different insole that didn’t bite. So I put a Salomon insole in and the feeling seems to be gone.

How did this run move me towards my goal(s)? More miles with some at a faster pace than usual.

Cardio Total: 1.46 lots of rain in the morning meant not much dog walking

Non Running Comments: This morning we go spread my father’s ashes, so it will be a tough and pretty long day. It is part of the deal though and needs to be done, so the living can get back to the job of living a good life.
