Well this was not the day that I really expected or wanted, but hey you gotta roll with what you got.
My truck has been acting up and I kinda figured what it was, but didn’t think it would be quite as expensive to get it fixed as it turned out to be.

It turned out that both of the front hubs, not just the wheel bearings needed to be replaced. Yeah, loads of fun and $$$$, but we depend on our 4WD truck for a lot of things, so there wasn’t any question about what was going to happen. I go pick it up in the morning with two new front hubs installed.
In other words – “Suck it up buttercup.”
Planned Workout Description: An easier run – something in the 5-7 mile range.
- Day: Monday
- Time of Day: 10:59a
- Course: Middle Road Loop
- Distance: 5.03
- Time of Run: 46:20
- Pace: 9:13
- Rating: 1
- Running Streak Day #: 3
- Weather: Partly Cloudy, but lots of sun, 52*F, feels like 52*F, Humidity 82%, Wind 3 mph from N
Variables that impacted the run: I was attempting to get over 50 miles on my black/red Duo’s and after Saturday’s long run in them, I was not sure how they were going to work. Then I was worried about how much the truck repair was going to be, so I wasn’t really focused on running.
Comments: It was a pretty perfect day for running, so I just started out comfortably and just after the first mile I got a phone call.
I looked down at my Garmin and saw it was my repair shop, so I stopped and took the call. They confirmed what I thought was wrong and gave me the estimate. I about croaked at the cost, but authorized the repairs, really there was no choice. Now, I trust my repair shop, but damn…
It was only later I learned why the cost was so high and completely understood what was going on. Replacing both front hubs on a 4WD vehicle is a whole different deal then simply doing wheel bearings.
Oh well, I might have picked up the pace a little during mile 2.0 for some reason or other and then I settled down and just ran comfortably.
It was not the fastest or most comfortable run that I done going around Middle Road, but I got it done.
Shoes Worn: Altra Duo v1 (Black/red) (53.3). The entire run I fought the Duo’s, the longer I ran in them the more uncomfortable the bottom of my feet felt. Even with the slightly thicker insoles, they just felt too damn firm and bothered my feet too much.

While I initially liked the Duo v1, they never softened up and are just too firm for me at this point in my running life.
Yes, I can run in them, but I don’t enjoy running in the Duo v1 that I have. It seemed after that long run the other day, my body is rebelling wearing them. I attempted to use them just for walking and my feet hurt even then.
So I have a feeling that these will be another pair of shoes that will go away shortly. I got them to 50 miles, but I don’t see them getting any more at this point.
How did this run move me towards my goal(s)? Just more miles.
Cardio Total: 3.92
Non Running Comments: Yeah, the truck is fixed and I go pick it up tomorrow. However, we did get a lot of little things done around the house this afternoon that we haven’t been able to get to before now. It was one of those perfect Fall days, I have a feeling that it is one of last one these we will see until sometime next year.
