What a gorgeous Fall day up heah in Maine. The trees are bursting with color, the temps were great for a run and the sun even made a welcome appearance.

So of course, I went for a nice run.

Nothing overly spectacular, but after trying to walk Bennie when the local Rod and Gun Club’s range was hitting on all cylinders, it was needed. Bennie might be a hunting dog breed as a Jack Russell or Fox Terrier (whichever he really is, he doesn’t do well with bangs and booms. So today’s long walk turned into a much shorter one.

Poor little bugger.

Which meant that I had more time to run.

I finally decided to run over at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and see how I felt. Off to Augusta.

This is over in front of the Cony track, where I had a quick blue box pit stop

Planned Workout Description: Yeah, I was pretty indecisive about how far I really wanted to run today. I had 34.+ miles in the log, but hadn’t done a long run yet this week. I figured that I would do think about 6.0 and see how I felt when I got to the turns.

  • Day: Sunday
  • Time of Day: 10:54a
  • Course: BMV-Cony-Piggery Rd, Augusta, ME
  • Distance: 8.5
  • Time of Run: 1:13:36
  • Pace: 8:40
  • Rating (1-4): 3
  • Running Streak Day #:
  • Weather: Partly Cloudy, 61°F, Feels like 61°F, Humidity 72%, Wind 4mph from NNW

Variables that impacted the run: Indecision on my part on how far I actually wanted to run and not having a good experience on a longer run in my Impulse on my last longer run.

Comments: I started out easy, but everything felt good, so I did pick up the pace a little. However, I never really ran all that hard or fast during the run.

It was one of those where I maintained a good steady pace and even though in a couple of places I attempted to run faster, as you can see the pace never really got all that much faster.

Shoes Worn: Altra Duo v1 (31.1) – I was very happy with how the Duo’s did during the entire run. The only thing that I really noticed as a negative was when I attempted to pick up the pace, nothing happened.

That last half mile I actually attempted to run faster and thought that I was going right along, but as you can see, not a whole lot of going faster was happening.

How did this run move me towards my goal(s)? My longest run yet in the Duo’s and the feet felt fine during the run. I did put Vaseline on my right foot, which seemed to help too. I did learn that the Duo’s probably are not a great choice for a fast 5K or 10K, but that I can do most of my easy/longer runs in them.

Cardio Total: 2.56

Weight: 157

Non Running Comments: Just one of those good lazy days, where you don’t really do a whole lot of nuthin. However, when I walked Bennie down-back this morning, I could see where I had run up the road in the mud yesterday in the 1400s, so knowing how much of a track they left in the mud gives more confidence on how they work in less than ideal conditions.
