Long run for the week – done.
What a gorgeous day, the first day this year that I was actually able to run outside in shorts!!! Temps were in the 50s, a little breeze and mostly sunny. This is the kind of day that I love to run outside, now to get ready for the 4-8 inches of snow that is being predicted for tomorrow.
The old saying – just wait a minute and the weather will change. That is Maine this year and winter is struggling hard to keep a hold on to the weather.
I did drive up to Waterville for my run. Running this far around the house just is not an easy thing this time of year and running there I can focus on the run versus dodging traffic or going ankle deep in mud. So I decided to run from the Alfond Youth Center, out through Marston Road…
then head down to Silver St and back to AYC.
I didn’t try to push the pace and let the course and how I felt guide me on how fast I was running, but even so I felt strong through 8.0 miles, but at that point I did start to get a bit tired and also my feet were just starting to talk to me. Nothing serious, but it is the first time on a run that the Beacons have had this happen.
They are getting pretty close to the 300 mile mark and I am starting to notice more aches and soreness after running in them on other runs, compared to how they were earlier. While I will try to get another 100 miles out them, I think that their days as my long run shoes is at an end and my Tempo 9 #2 will take over those duties.
I was very happy with this run and it was one of those get out there, do it and finish with a pretty good smile.
