This morning I had to wear a long sleeved shirt for Bennie’s first and long walks this morning – those temps in the 50’s felt so damn refreshing after a long hot and humid summer. There was not much doubt that I would be running at some point this morning.
When I headed out the door for my run, it was simply marvelous. It was in the mid 60’s, the 10-15 mph breeze was going to be in my face going up Tiffany towards Goodhue, but other than that it was a great day for a run.
I just ran comfortably for the entire run, there was no point where I decided to be stoopid and test the hamstring. For a change I did exactly what I set out to do, keep my pace between 9:00 and 9:30 for my splits.
When I got done, the hamstring had held together with only a couple of minor twinges. It seems that as long as I go easy, I don’t have any issues with the hammie. All I know is that I enjoyed the run.
The Reebok RunFasts did just fine at the slower paces. While they did well, I did get just a hint of discomfort in my right forefoot. It wasn’t enough to change my gait or slow me down, but it was enough to wonder if it was going to get any worse. At this slow speed it does not bother all that much, but it seems that at a faster pace, it does a little more.
I am not sure about what I can do about it? I really do not believe that it is not anything serious, but it is noticeable and it is distracting when I am running, when it starts to bother. When I am racing or running faster, I do not want to have any distractions, so that will be a consideration going forward. The RunFasts in a size 8.5 might become more trainers than my go faster shoes, but I am not ready to give up on them quite yet. 🙂
