Back to It – RunLog 3-29-17

Standard

After a couple of mornings where I wouldn’t run outside due to the road conditions – damned ice…

and then deciding that yesterday afternoon that it was going to be a day off (just because I wanted to and I badly needed a haircut), I got back to running this morning.

With the crappy weather and stuff lately, Bennie hasn’t had too many runs either, so he was ready to run this morning. Well let’s put it this way he was ready to run when he was running and stopped when he stopped suddenly six times.

We ran down to the end of Pepin Road and back home plus an extra lap on top.

Of course the only traffic we met was when three vehicles came at us at the same time at the stop sign at the end of Philbrick Road, which confused, excited and discombobulated Bennie. I had to stop  and give him a chance to calm down. He didn’t know which vehicle to race and tried to go in three directions at once. Damn near wrapped the leash around my legs and tripped me.

After we got unwrapped and calmed him back down we ran comfortably to the end of Pepin and back out. It was slow up the Bitch and when we went back by the house after doing 4.0 miles, I let Bennie chose whether to keep going or go up the driveway. He looked at the driveway and then picked up the pace to say we are doing another one.

We did pick up the pace the last mile and it was a run, where we did Bennie intervals at times and other times we just ran comfortably. A good run.

Run #2

I had thought about running outside again this afternoon and even brought some colder weather running stuff. Yeah, I am getting tired of the treadmill. However, when I was driving over to Planet Fitness, it began to rain. Running outside in 38*F ain’t too bad, but when you add in rain at that temp, that just ain’t too much fun.

So I ended up doing another session on the treadmill. I put it on 7.0 mph and kept it there for 4.0 miles. The right hamstring was a complaining a little, but nothing serious, so I just kept it nice and easy. Other than that little issue it was just a matter of putting in the time on the mill.

  • Pace:  8:31
