I changed back to WordPress last year because I didn’t want to simply focus on running all the time and guess what…it still seems like that all I publish lately is about my running, photos of Bennie doing something.

At least you don’t get a whole lot of crap from others when you write about them.
I don’t live in an echo chamber and have a variety of beliefs, thoughts and opinions about different interests, life and politics that range from very conservative to very liberal – dependent upon the issue. I had originally thought that when I moved back to WordPress that I would be sharing/publishing more posts discussing those important to me issues.
I haven’t all that much.
and I have decided that I will not all that often.
It just isn’t worth the hassle.
With all the negativity, polarization and the crap that goes along with writing about much than running or pets…well it takes the joy out of writing about it.
This past week and for the past several months I have drafted a multitude of posts and then deleted them. I simply didn’t want to get dragged into shitholes that they were about and deal with the crap that goes along with discussing “in public” my thoughts on current events.
However, I still enjoy the writing process and drafting this stuff does help me sort through my thoughts, emotions and keeps me grounded in reality versus becoming a keyboard Don Quixote. So although I don’t publish 90% of what I write about, it doesn’t mean that I am not thinking, writing and thinking more than I should about what is going on in the world around me. It ain’t all bad, but some parts sure as hell ain’t too good either.
I think it is time for me to go back to writing my daily Runlog narrative on my blog again. It will not focus on stats, just my feelings for the day and if I took an interesting photo(s). My daily chatter about my running will be starting back up tomorrow and in amongst those meandering thoughts about my run that day, although there might be a casual reference to some current event 🙂
Week in Running
This week was a little of this and a little of that. There was no one run that really stood out and said that was a great, fantastic or crappy, nasty. They were mostly treadmill runs since the weather was just screwy this week.
I didn’t quite make my weekly goal of 40 miles, but 38 ain’t too bad and I wasn’t going to go back out this afternoon just to get those 2.0 extry miles in. They would not have made that much of a difference in the overall scheme of things.
As I discussed ad nauseum last week in the posts I did publish and my 50 mile review of the New Balance 860 v6’s I am enjoying my EE width shoes. You really don’t realize how uncomfortable or painful running in poorly fitting shoes affects you, until your feet no longer bother you during a run.
I have gone to a three running shoe rotation
- adidas Adios Boost 3
- New Balance 860 v6 EE – Disney Edition
- New Balance 860 v5 EE
As much as I would like to completely switch my running and work shoe inventory over to EE width shoes, it will take more than a couple of weeks to get it done.
While the AB3’s are working I can tell they are still a little too narrow for my right foot, especially after running primarily over the past couple of weeks in the EE’s. I will wear the AB3’s for another 100 or so miles as my fast shoes, but after that I have a feeling they will be done and I will look for a faster shoe in a EE width. The 860 v5’s will be my trail, crappy weather shoes for the time being and the v6’s for most everything else.
All I know is that I am pretty happy with how I am running in the wider shoes.
Overall, another week where I am making forward progress and I can’t ask for much more than that.
Although I will be glad when the mornings are 50*F and all I need to run outside is a t-shirt, shorts and a good pair of running shoes.
