In Case You Were Wondering

My old 1971 Camaro – Just as a change of pace, there is a great post here.

Over the past few weeks, you will have noticed that running has started to dominate my blog more and more.

Why?

Well first and foremost, I am most comfortable talking about running publicly and it seems that I have slid back into that habit.

Plus when you add in the fact that I am running the best I have since early May, well… not a bad thing, but it not where I wanted to go with the blog when I returned here.

This is not just a running blog. Continue reading “In Case You Were Wondering”

Bennie Looking at the Brook

from Instagram: http://ift.tt/2g3Ht5J
We were on a 4.0 mile run down-back and Bennie stopped to look at something on the other side of the brook. I thought it was pretty, but didn’t realize how pretty it was until after I looked at it on the laptop.
It is good to see water in the creeks and streams around us, but we are still officially in a drought, so we will see how things go. Here it is almost December and all we have had for snow is a couple of flurries that amounted to little more than half an inch each time.
Sooner or later we are gonna get dumped on.

Fascination or Obsession – Puma Mobium Line

Have you ever been totally obsessed with something that just doesn’t make a bit sense?

You  can’t understand why and when in the past you have gotten them, for whatever reason they just didn’t work for you, but it didn’t stop you from wanting to try them – again.

It is irrational, illogical, unreasonable, unjustifiable, absurd, preposterous and all those other words that we use to describe, us wanting something and not have any valid reason for our fascination with it.

That is how I am with the Puma Mobium line of running shoes.

Once upon a time, well a couple of years ago, I was going to wear-test for Puma, but come to find out, even though I wear primarily size 8.5 or 9.0 in most running shoes, when I submitted my Brannock device photo, my actual foot size is closer 7.5 or 8.0, so I didn’t meet the sizing necessary to be a wear-tester.

Bummer dude.

I even went down to Boston and met with the good folks from Puma’s wear-test division, to see why.

Pretty simple – my feet are too small. Continue reading “Fascination or Obsession – Puma Mobium Line”

Thanksgiving day Run Down back

from Instagram: http://ift.tt/2gliqeV
I promised myself and Mary that I wouldn’t do either of the two Turkey Trot 5K’s in the area this morning. So I was good and ran down-back. Although the Garmin and Strava say I had two runs, I will say that I did a nice 7.1 miler and smile.
The first part of the run was with Bennie. I had planned on a quicker 4-5 with him and it started out really great. I was wearing the Adios 3’s and told myself we were going to run faster than usual. I wasn’t prepared for the truck of hunters going by as we went past the quarter-mile point.

Making Memories; Shopping Not So Much

Appreciate Your Time Together

Yesterday, I took the day off work so Mary and I could spend the day together. It is something we have not gotten the chance to do often enough lately. Our schedules just haven’t been syncing, to let us see one another more than a few hours a day lately.

This is more than just a what we did post, so bear with me, although what we did is part of the story.

Mary and I ended up going down to Portland (about an hour or so away) and did a little shopping. Neither of us are the shop till you drop types, we are more figure out what you need, go to those places and get it done. So we made 2 stops in Portland, 1 in Falmouth and 2 in Brunswick.

We didn’t go near the Maine Mall or any of the other larger shopping centers.

Hell, we didn’t even stop in Freeport. 🙂

The first stop was the Coast Guard Exchange.

While I was wandering around, I ended up in the uniform section and saw some things that brought back a flood of memories.

As I took them off the wall… Continue reading “Making Memories; Shopping Not So Much”

“Am I Done?” | The Players’ Tribune

Football has been everything to me since I was 10 years old. For the past few months, all of that has been taken away.

Source: “Am I Done?” | The Players’ Tribune

I have been a fan of JJ Watt, since he came into the NFL, not so much because he is such a great player.

He is!

More because of how he seems to present himself and the obvious love of the sport he is so gifted at playing.

This article was a nice reminder that sometimes players do love the sport that they get paid so handsomely to play and I truly believe that JJ Watt is one of those that does love his sport.

What in the hell does this have to do with you or anyone else.

I am not in any way a gifted athlete (other than I am a stubborn old bastard), but I do fiercely love my sport – running in my own way, as much JJ Watt loves football. I keep coming back to it after surgery, numerous injuries and all the other stuff that I have endured to simply keep running over the past 40 plus years.

Now, if only I was as gifted at running, as he is at football, all would be right with the world.

hehehehe Yeah right!!!

Bennie’s View Down-back

from Instagram: http://ift.tt/2fO6rFT
We were running down-back and had just finished a Bennie stop. When before we got going again, he stood in the road and didn’t move, with his tail straight back. Over the years we have run together, when he does that, I stop and look around carefully – it usually means something is there he is either unsure of or that is a threat.
I looked and couldn’t see anything, so I kneeled down to get his perspective and grabbed my camera to document…whatever he was looking at?
I still don’t have a clue what he was so intently staring at, but a few seconds later, he stopped staring and tugged on the leash to get going in that direction.
So we did and I still don’t know what to hell he was looking at?
