Damn, it is getting cold outside! No 30’s is not really that cold compared to what’s coming, but pretty much going from 60’s to 30’s in a week is a pain in the butt. Oh well, there isn’t much you can do about it, but lace’em up, put on your jacket, hat, gloves, open up the door and get your ass out there running.
That is what I did today. 🙂
Before I did go for my run, I took Bennie on all but the last half mile of the course I ran today. So I had just walked 2.6 miles before I ran my 3.1 course. This is the fourth day out of five this week that I have done this. It is basically a double work-out – only half of it is walking. I am in motion for between an hour and a half to two and half hours. If you added these walks onto my totals, it would be a lot more and I really believe that doing both so close to each other is starting to wear me down.
What do you think?
Is doing the dog’s long walk between 2.5 and 4.0 miles, then running between 2.0 to 3.5 (on my 5.5 mile day I don’t the long walk with Bennie) miles too much for an old fat guy, who is just getting back in shape?
Oh well how was my run today? A tough one! As I said above, I just felt tired and for the first time this year walked the last 20 yards to the second Stevens gate, then I got pissed at myself for being weak and started to run again.
Once I got to the level ground, I felt a lot better and increased the pace a little bit, but I was just plain old fashioned tired. It is just one of those periods I know that I will go through as I get back in shape, but getting through them is a real pain. Five steps forward two steps back, but at least I am making progress.
Qualify of my run today: Poor – but still out there doing it. 😉
