The Week In Review – 10/23/11

This has been a very busy week at “One Foot in Reality” as you can see by the number of posts below:

  1. Whitten Hill Trail – A Long Walk in the Woods
  2. How Not to Update Your Blog
  3. Wordless Wednesday – 10/19/11
  4. Facebook Deleted – Permanently
  5. Google+ Review-While Keeping it Real
  6. Four Year’s of Blogging – A Reflection
  7. TheWife Wants to Blog Too
  8. Stepping Out
  9. 10 Blogs/People I Follow

TheWife has figured that she wants to start blogging.  When we discussed it, we decided to make her co-author here to give her some experience blogging. That way she will get to see what blogging is about. I am actually very excited about her joining me and believe that One Foot In Reality will be a better blog because of her joining me here.

Other big news is that I have deleted my Facebook account and migrated primarily to Google+ as my primary social media hub.  Facebook is heading in one direction and I don’t believe it is the direction that I want to go, so I ended my association with that service.  I understand that many social marketers will chide me for this decision, because I have eliminated a possible place to add additional readers for my blog, but that is a choice that I made.

Google+ has met and exceeded my expectations and with the addition of the Chrome Extension, it became much more useable.  This aided me in my decision to delete Facebook, but Google+ is not just a replacement, it stands as a social media tool on its own merits.  Now to get more people to go there and use it who were in my friends list on that “other” place.

I was playing around with some different themes last week and accidentally deleted my primary theme as and had to replace it on short notice and having to stay up way too late – I don’t plan to do that again for a while.

However, for some reason the new theme had a lot of problems with accepting comments this week, so if you did try to comment here, I apologize for the inconvenience. The problem is fixed now, we had to delete some widgets and disable the Captcha, but I moderate all comments, so that shouldn’t be an issue. If this continues to be an issue, due to this and some other back-end issues I have noticed since loading the theme, I will have to find another new theme.  I hope that it doesn’t recur again – I do like this theme better than others that I have used.

Four Year Anniversary

Oh yeah this was my 4 year blog anniversary.  It is hard to believe that I have been blogging for 4 years, blogging is just a part of my life and is something that I enjoy doing.

My top 5 posts for the week based on pageviews:

1. Evernote as a Task Manager

2. Opus Domini – Electronic Organizer Review
3. Facebook Deleted – Permanently
4. Evernote Review
5. Google+ Review-While Keeping it Real

The reality is that

I look forward to seeing TheWife’s blog posts, but I really look forward to them 3-4 months down the road when she has discovered her blogging voice, because she will quickly surpass me as a writer and blogger, that I have no doubt about.

The garden is buttoned up, probably the last week of mowing the lawn, we celebrate TheWife’s birthday on Tuesday and our 11th Anniversary of meeting on the 29th.  It is going to be a very good week.
