This is how it looked at the start of the day.
During the summer we store all the yard maintenance equipment and grill on my side, so it looks a lot worse than it actually is. But my workbench and the area in front of the yard equipment was trashed.
The yard equipment, yes we use the non-motorized lawn mower about half the time. Not the greenest of equipment, but they do what we need to get done. Yes I have the non-gasoline trimmers, weed wacker and such, but they didn’t get into this picture. I have just enough upkeep to do that gasoline powered equipment makes it easier.
My stuff for getting firewood, yep more gas powered equipment, but for getting about 5 cord of wood, it is a lot easier than using the hand or 2-man saws. No I do not use a gas powered splitter, there is the red handled splitting maul, along with the sledge and wedge when necessary. Believe it or not, I actually do wear the safety gear, whenever I am using the chain saw – I have a very healthy respect for it and a chain saw is something not to screw around with.
The assorted tools that I have used to repair automobiles (mainly a couple of Jeeps CJ & YJ). My archery gear, my meatball carpentry stuff, my old mountain bike and a bunch of assorted trash.
The accumulation of tools and tool boxes (nuts, nails, bolts & assorted screws).
I found this old hunting hat underneath the work bench (I thought I had lost it), which brought back lots of memories of Saturday mornings during the late 80’s, sitting around Bennett’s Gun Shop and swapping lies stories.
This is what it looked like before I put all the lawn equipment back in. It is a lot neater, now I have to put stuff back when I get done with it, instead of just leaving it around the work bench. I didn’t organize the white organizer, that is still on my list of things to get done this summer.
I was able to get rid of a lot of junk, trash, and stuff that I will never use again, which will make it a lot easier to find stuff that is out there or have room on the bench to actually work without having to clear stuff out of the way first. I still have to go through all my tools and old archery equipment to see what I really need and how much just needs to go away.
I feel really great now that I got this project down and I know where things are in the garage.
